Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday revealed a significant boost to the state’s social security pension program. Under the updated plan, elderly individuals and those with disabilities will now get Rs 1100 monthly, an increase from the previous sum of Rs 400.

Nitish Kumar declared on X that the higher pension amount will be distributed beginning in July. This decision is anticipated to provide assistance to more than 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand 255 recipients throughout the state.

“I am pleased to announce that under the Social Security Pension Scheme, widowed women, elderly individuals, and those with disabilities will now get a pension of Rs. 1100 instead of Rs. 400 every month. All beneficiaries will receive a pension at the higher rate starting in July. This sum will be guaranteed to be transferred to the accounts of all recipients on the 10th of the month. This will assist 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand 255 beneficiaries,” Nitish Kumar stated in a post on X.

The administration has also specified that the updated pension will be deposited into recipients’ bank accounts on the 10th of each month. The program includes senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, widowed persons, and other qualified people under Bihar’s social welfare framework.

In response to CM Nitish Kumar’s announcement, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary remarked, “Today marks a historic day as the CM has raised pensions for widows, seniors, and those with disabilities. I appreciate the CM for this.”

The Bihar Assembly election is set to take place in the state during October-November this year.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
