Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized Air India for providing a broken seat during his recent journey from Bhopal to New Delhi, claiming that this disappointing experience equated to deceiving the passengers. Air India acted quickly, expressing regret for the incident and stated that the issue was under investigation.
In an elaborated post on X, the ex-Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh shared his experience while flying on Air India flight AI436 to Delhi for the inauguration of the Kisan Mela in Pusa.
Chouhan, who had reserved seat number 8C in advance, expressed his disbelief at discovering the seat to be “damaged and depressed”. The Union minister stated that when he inquired with the airline personnel, they acknowledged that the management had already been informed about the problem.
“When I inquired with the flight attendants, they informed me that management had previously been made aware of the seat’s condition and that its ticket should not be sold,” Chouhan stated. The veteran BJP leader stated that the crew also informed him about multiple other faulty seats on the plane.
Chouhan, affectionately known as ‘Mamaji’ in Madhya Pradesh, mentioned that his fellow travelers proposed changing seats, yet he opted to finish the 1.30-hour trip on the same damaged seat.
In January 2022, the Tata Group purchased Air India from the government for Rs 18,000 crore.
