March 8: Vallabh Maheshwari, the managing director of the Shakun Group, was killed in a road accident after the BMW he was travelling in lost control and overturned on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway near Alwar in Rajasthan on Sunday, police said.

Maheshwari, a 62-year-old industrialist from Jaipur, was travelling to Mathura when the accident occurred. Officials said his driver was at the wheel when the car suddenly veered off course, smashed through roadside barricades, hit the central divider and then rammed into the wall of a culvert.

The impact of the crash was so powerful that the luxury vehicle was completely wrecked. Maheshwari and the driver were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared the businessman dead. The driver survived the crash without injuries.

Police said Maheshwari’s body has been sent to Jaipur for post-mortem. Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding or a possible technical malfunction in the vehicle may have led to the accident, though authorities are examining all possibilities.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
