New Delhi | November 10, 2025: The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has taken over the probe into the deadly car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, is now examining possible links between the explosion and an interstate terror module dismantled earlier in the day.
A Kashmiri doctor arrested in Faridabad, identified as Dr. Muzammil Ganaie, has emerged as the prime suspect, senior officials confirmed late Monday night.
As forensic experts combed through the mangled remains of a white Eco van parked outside Gate No. 1 of Lal Quila Metro Station, so far there are no evidence of any explosive used to carry out the probe.
The van carried a fake registration plate, and residue samples from the scene reportedly matched the chemical profile of explosives recovered earlier. The explosion’s sheer force—described by survivors as a “deafening roar” that sent debris flying over 100 meters—has raised fears of a coordinated strike.
Witness Accounts: ‘The Blast Shook the Ground’
Eyewitnesses in Old Delhi’s densely packed lanes described scenes of terror and disbelief.
“Body parts flew through the air and landed right in front of me,” said one man, still trembling near the barricaded site. “Someone’s hand lay on the road. My ears are still ringing—it was like the sky split open.”
Another resident said, “Windows rattled, doors shook—it felt like the end of the world.”
A shopkeeper near Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, about 300 meters from the site, recalled seeing a “huge fireball” from his terrace before rushing downstairs. Several vehicles were engulfed in flames, leaving behind twisted metal, shattered glass, and scorched storefronts across the Chandni Chowk area.

Faridabad Connection: A Doctor Turned Suspect
Investigators are tracing links between the Red Fort blast and the multi-state terror network busted earlier across Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
The network—allegedly tied to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)—had stockpiled nearly 2,900 kg of bomb-making chemicals, including RDX precursors, ammonium nitrate, and multiple AK-47 rifles and pistols.
Among the eight operatives arrested was Dr. Muzammil Ganaie, a Kashmiri medical practitioner living in Faridabad, from whose rented residence investigators seized 360 kg of ammonium nitrate, electronic timers, and firearms.

Officials suspect the Red Fort attack may have been a retaliatory strike by remnants of the same network—possibly aimed at disrupting Diwali celebrations and striking a symbolic national monument.
No group has claimed responsibility yet, though intelligence intercepts reportedly picked up chatter about targeting high-profile Delhi sites after the morning raids.
Online Speculation and Security Escalation
As news of the explosion broke, social media flooded with speculation and eyewitness footage.
One user on X posted: “Blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, suspected terror link. Police investigating; no group has claimed responsibility yet.”
Another urged caution: “Wait for official confirmation—fake news is spreading faster than facts.”
Meanwhile, Delhi Police’s Special Cell, assisted by NSG commandos, has sealed off a 2-km radius around the site. Drones monitor rooftops as random checks continue on two-wheelers.
Metro services at Lal Quila Station remain suspended indefinitely.
Hospitals including LNJP and GTB are treating 24 injured victims, five of whom are in critical condition with shrapnel and burn injuries.
Nationwide High Alert
Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level review meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs, directing agencies to enforce “zero tolerance” toward terror networks.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who spoke with Shah, vowed “unflinching action” against those behind the attack.
High alerts have also been issued in Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, and Hyderabad, with security heightened at airports, metro hubs, and government buildings.
