Rajnath Singh’s visit comes after India-China agreement on disengagement in Ladakh
According to sources, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to celebrate Diwali with troops stationed along the India-China border in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh on October 31, as reported by India Today TV.
Located in front of the majestic eastern Himalayas, Tawang has always represented India’s dedication to protecting its borders. Singh’s arrival coincides with a period during which India and China achieved a significant advancement in patrolling the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh.
Tawang has become one of the focal points of friction over years
In recent years, Tawang has emerged as a major site of conflict, specifically in places such as Yangtse, where the Indian and Chinese militaries engaged in a clash in December 2022, resulting in casualties on both sides.
In this event, the Indian Army effectively stopped PLA soldiers from expanding their patrols into the Yangtse, strengthening India’s dominance in the crucial area.

Prior to Singh’s arrival, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein will greet the Indian Air Force’s Uttarakhand War Memorial car rally as it arrives in Tawang on October 30.
This year, the Diwali festival, a significant Hindu celebration, will take place from October 29 to November 3.
