PM Modi files nomination from Varanasi
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi submitted his nomination papers for the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency. One of his four proposers, Pandit Ganeshwar Shastri, who is known for determining the’muhurat’ for Lord Ram’s pran-pratishtha in Ayodhya was present at the occasion.

Baijnath Patel, an RSS volunteer from the OBC (Other Backward Classes) community, Lalchand Kushwaha, also from the OBC community, and Sanjay Sonkar, a Dalit community member, were the other three proposers for prime minister, Narendra Modi.
(Candidates must have at least one proposer, who must be a registered voter in the Assembly or parliamentary seat for which they are endorsing a candidate’s nomination, according to the Election Commission. The proposer and the candidate both need to sign the nomination documents.)

Union Ministers and leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) were present as the Prime Minister signed his nomination papers.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party JP Nadda, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, Leader of LJP-Ram Vilas Chirag Paswan, Leader of the Jana Sena Party Pawan Kalyan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde, and Leader of Rashtriya Lok Morcha Upendra Kushwaha were present at the occasion.
The Prime Minister described his relationship with Varanasi as “inseparable and incomparable” earlier today.
PM Modi posted a video on X, in which he expressed his affection for Kashi and the evolution of his relationship with River Ganga.

The video featured the Prime Minister performing puja and darshan, along with many of his roadshows on his numerous visits to his city.
“I felt like I was invited to the city by ‘Ma Ganga’ when I went to Kashi in 2014. However, today, after 10 years of my visit to Kashi, I can say ‘Aaj Ma Ganga ne mujhe god le liya hai’ (today Ma Ganga has adopted me),” PM Modi said in the video.
PM Modi offered prayers at the Dasaswamedh Ghat
Today, at the Dasaswamedh Ghat, PM Modi offered prayers to the River Ganga before submitting his nomination.
Additionally, PM Modi went to the city’s Kaal Bhairav Temple. The Prime Minister became emotional and added, “Varanasi locals have made me a ‘Banarasiya,’ a resident of Banaras.”
PM Modi, who first contested from Varanasi in 2014 as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, is vying for a third term in office when polling will be held in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha election, which takes place on June 1.
