PM Modi dials newly elected US President Trump; congratulates him on the remarkable win

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump on his remarkable win in the US presidential election. In the discussion, Trump commended PM Modi, calling him a remarkable individual and stating that he was adored globally, sources informed India Today TV.

Trump described India as a wonderful nation and regarded PM Modi and the country as genuine allies, sources indicated, mentioning that both leaders pledged to collaborate for global peace.

Sources added that the 78-year-old President-elect of the US mentioned that PM Modi was among the first global leaders he contacted following his win.

In a tweet, PM Modi mentioned that he had a “wonderful discussion” with Trump, referring to him as his “friend”. He mentioned he was eager to collaborate with Trump once more to strengthen India-US relations in multiple areas, such as defence and technology.

“Had a great conversation with my friend, President @realDonaldTrump, congratulating him on his spectacular victory. Looking forward to working closely together once again to further strengthen India-US relations across technology, defence, energy, space and several other sectors,” the Prime Minister said.

Earlier today, PM Modi extended his congratulations to Trump and stated that he would collaborate with him to foster global peace, stability, and prosperity.

Trump made history by becoming the first President in 132 years to secure non-consecutive terms in the White House, overcoming Vice President Kamala Harris, who was aiming to be the first female president in the world’s oldest democracy. Although Trump won against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016, he was defeated by Joe Biden in 2020.
