March 11, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday assured that the government is providing all possible assistance to Indians stranded in Gulf countries and criticised the Congress for “politicising” the conflict.
Speaking in poll-bound Kerala, he said Congress was making “provocative and irresponsible statements” that could worsen the situation for Indians abroad.
He added that India’s missions and embassies in the Gulf were providing round-the-clock support, while friendly governments in the region were also ensuring the safety of Indian citizens.

“Given the situation in the Gulf region, your worries are natural. Lakhs of our brothers and sisters work there. But you must remember that it is the BJP-NDA government in power. Whenever our citizens get stuck abroad, we use all our strength to help them. Be it rescuing nurses in Iraq or saving Father Tom from terrorists in Yemen, today’s Bharat does not leave its citizens alone in times of crisis. Our effort today is to ensure that Indians caught in this conflict get safety and every possible assistance,” PM Modi said.
He called it “a grave misfortune” that Congress sought political advantage during the crisis, alleging that the party deliberately made statements to escalate tensions so Indians would remain stranded, creating fodder for campaigns against him.

“Congress is deliberately making provocative and irresponsible statements to worsen the situation, so that our people stay stuck in the crisis, and then these people can start a campaign making reels abusing Modi,” he said.
PM Modi also stressed the importance of expanding the petroleum sector to build an Atmanirbhar Bharat and strengthen the Make in India initiative, noting the foundation stone for a polypropylene unit at Kochi Refinery had been laid with the same objective.
“The ongoing war in the Gulf has once again taught us the importance of self-reliance. We have seen this during the Covid crisis, the Ukraine crisis, and the current crisis proves it once again,” he said.
He added that India is receiving global recognition for its large-scale investments in modern infrastructure and highlighted that the Union Budget this year allocated record funds for infrastructure development.
The Prime Minister noted that Kerala is among the states benefiting significantly from the Centre’s push for infrastructure expansion.
