New Delhi, September 12, 2025 – The Kuki Inpi, during a meeting on September 8, 2025, with representatives from various units across India, unanimously reiterated the urgent political demand of the Kuki-Zo people for a Separate Administration. The Kuki Inpi Delhi (KID), a federating unit, strongly endorsed the resolution and vowed to work “unequivocally until the Kuki-Zo people obtain their rightful demand for a Union Territory with legislature or a separate state.”
In a press release issued today, the KID outlined the challenges faced by the community over the past two years, since May 3, 2023. “Every social media channel to clarify these wrong narratives were bombarded with spams and trolls. Every curious citizen was guided with wrong information, and every journalist who published authentic stories were either threatened or cyberbullied,” the statement read. The organization accused the majority community of attempting to “confuse the nation first and annihilate the minorities,” taking advantage of the region’s backwardness.

The press release also detailed acts of violence committed against the Kuki-Zo people. “Guns were issued and distributed from police stations and other security outlets to shoot Kuki-Zo people. Women were raped, paraded naked, tortured; heads were chopped and hung on fences; victims were mutilated, burned, and defaced. This horror will haunt the nation for generations,” said the statement. The KID described these acts as “a sacrilege to Gandhi and his teachings,” emphasizing that such atrocities violate both human rights and the Indian Constitution.
Addressing the issue of ongoing security and movement, the KID declared, “There will be no free movement of Meiteis in Kuki-Zo areas, and the Kuki-Zo community will also refrain from returning to Meitei areas until our political demand is fulfilled. These buffer zones are lines drawn with human lives, and they must be respected by both parties.”

The press release also highlighted the Kuki-Zo community’s historical contributions to India. “The Kuki-Zo people are the only community in Manipur that stood with the Indian Government all through 78 years of independence,” the statement read. “We raised our arms for Jai Hind since Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s INA days. Many INA pensioners are still alive today.” The statement rejected claims branding the community as refugees, asserting that “scientific research shows Manipur valley was inhabitable till the 13th century. Who are the real refugees here?”
The KID called for urgent government action, warning that “justice delayed will undermine public trust in the Indian judiciary” and that the credibility of Indian democracy is at stake. The press release concluded: “Separate Administration is our only survival on this earth. This can be in the form of a Union Territory with legislature or a separate Indian State. The world is watching, and our urgency must reverberate across the nation.”
