Delhi Metro serves as a lifeline for the capital, with over 3 million commuters traveling daily across the network, according to DMRC data. The fare revision is expected to impact daily commuters, particularly those traveling longer distances on weekdays.

This is the first fare revision in eight years, with the last change implemented in 2017. The previous revision was carried out in two phases: the first phase on May 10, 2017, and the second on October 1, 2017. The current revision comes amid rising operational costs, inflation, and maintenance expenses for the expanding metro network.
A DMRC spokesperson stated, “The revised fare structure is aimed at maintaining the quality of services while balancing the operational costs. The fares are still among the lowest in the world for metro travel.”
Commuters are advised to check updated fare charts at metro stations or on the DMRC website before travel.
