Test Cricket, the oldest format of the sport is one which requires immense patience and skills. Experts believe that it is the toughest format of the game as one needs to be technically sound to overcome the various factors such as skill of bowlers, pitch conditions and the quality of opposition.
However, there have been numerous players who have excelled in scoring huge amount of runs and establishing mammoth records.
Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar is one man who stands as a towering figure of the game everyone looks to emulate. A lot of records established by him, like the 100 International 100s and 51 Test hundreds are still unbroken.
The record of 51 Test hundreds
Sachin Tendulkar has scored 51 test centuries and he is quite ahead of the next best in Jacques Kallis with 45 hundreds.
If we talk about the current generation, there are two batsmen who are in the race to inch closer or can even break this record- Australia’s Steve Smith and England’s Joe Root. Both are tied at 36 Test hundreds.

Talking about Joe Root, who is in the form of his life, has just turned 34, and needs at least 3 good years to go past Tendulkar.
However, this will take some doing but the record is not unbreakable. Only time will tell whether these two modern day greats will be able to overcome the odds..
