Opinion! Where’s the Brisbane Test heading towards?

India requires 275 runs to secure victory in the Brisbane Test, with at least 54 overs available, but realistically, they would be fortunate to bat for over 40 overs. Australia started quickly, played aggressively, lost wickets, and accumulated 89 runs in 18 overs, just below 5 RPO. They have three capable bowlers, and Mitch Marsh and Travis Head can bowl too, but much will rely on Starc, Cummins, and Lyon if they aim to achieve something extraordinary.

Rain Gods hold the key

For 4 days, India was never close to winning; they’ve now been assigned a target that seems high. The unpredictable weather will contribute to the disorder—will they be drawn into a chase? Or will they close the curtains and opt for a 1-1 scoreline heading into the Boxing Day Test? Returning soon for what promises to be another extraordinary sequence of action.

There might be a rain break within the next 30-45 minutes. The outlook is not promising. 54 overs to be bowled, depending on the weather. However, it’s improbable that we will obtain all of it.

Remember, Australia is without Josh Hazlewood. The experienced pacer strained his calf while bowling during the first innings and was excluded from the Test match.

A bold call from Australia

A result is very less predicted even though the amount of overs left are enough. The rain gods are over the sky sky and they can interrupt at any time. This is a bold call from Australia anyway.

We believe it’s more about gaining the psychological advantage than actually winning the Test. If Australia can reduce India to 100 for 5, they will enter Melbourne with a psychological advantage. If India can reach 100 for 0 in about 30 overs, they will be in a strong position. It’s similar to a boxing match where the two fighters are assessing the situation before the last few rounds.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
