Deadly Airstrikes on Terror Camps
“All of a sudden, the electricity went out. I thought a transformer (had) burst, but later came to know that Indian troops started shelling and firing at us,” Raja Shahid Bashir, a resident of Shawai in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, told CNN.
Residents of Pakistan-administered Kashmir claim they had to escape their homes and seek refuge after India conducted missile attacks on its neighbor on Wednesday.
Counter-terrorism officials stated that India’s attacks on nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were driven by intelligence suggesting these locations were actively aiding terrorist activities in India.
Terror groups in opposition to India, including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen, among others, have been obtaining secret assistance from the Pakistan Army and its Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency.
This assistance involves systematically organized financial, logistical, doctrinal, and military aid, along with direct combat training, officials specified. Pakistani military personnel frequently visit and oversee activities at training camps run by these organizations, now known as The Resistance Front (TRF), People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), Kashmir Tigers (KT), among others, to avoid international attention and present their terrorism as a homegrown resistance effort.
Essential backing for these groups is provided through infrastructure hidden within governmental establishments. Multiple training camps and launch sites aimed at in Operation Sindoor are presently operating near military installations and cantonment zones, frequently disguised as Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs).
Terrorist organizations have been supplied with military-level communication devices. Targets like Sarjal–Tehra Kalan utilize high-frequency communication systems for coordinating and planning with infiltrated terrorists, officials stated.
Institutional backing is facilitating religious indoctrination and additional support activities—like funding, propaganda, and recruitment—at facilities situated deep within Pakistan, including LeT’s Markaz Taiba in Muridke and JeM’s Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur.
These sites act not only as homes for high-ranking officials but also as hubs for radicalization and training in intelligence and weapon management. Furthermore, leaders of these organizations have utilized these venues to present anti-India rhetoric, including the December 2024 speech by JeM head Masood Azhar at Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur.
