According to a report by the Pakistani English daily Dawn, the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), a political party founded by the architect of the 26/11 terror incident and UN-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed, would run in the forthcoming general elections in Pakistan.
The party has reportedly fielded candidates for each and every national and provincial assembly constituency of Pakistan in the February 8 elections.
Notably, Hafiz Saeed’s son Talha Saeed is also in the run and will contest the polls from National Assembly’s constituency NA-127, Lahore, as per the report.
The founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which has been recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN, Hafiz Saeed, has been imprisoned since 2019 following his conviction in multiple terror funding cases. The United States has placed a USD 10 million bounty on Saeed.
Hafiz Saeed-led banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) is the front organisation for the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which is responsible for carrying out the 2008 Mumbai attack that killed 166 people, including six Americans.
