Filmmaker Boney Kapoor, who is associated with the upcoming international film city project near the airport, said the development would generate significant employment and could begin operations soon.
Authorities imposed traffic restrictions across Noida and Greater Noida ahead of the inauguration, with diversions in place on key routes including the Yamuna Expressway.
Officials said the airport is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity, attract investment, and support large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects in the area.
The airport is expected to ease congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, which currently handles a significant share of the region’s air traffic. Once fully operational, the Jewar facility will function as a secondary hub, improving passenger capacity and cargo movement across northern India.
Officials said the project is also likely to accelerate urban development along the Yamuna Expressway corridor, with plans for logistics hubs, commercial zones, and residential clusters already underway. The airport is being positioned as a catalyst for long-term economic growth in the region.
