MILAN, derived from the Hindi word ‘meeting,’ has evolved into India’s largest multinational naval exercise since its inception in 1995. With its upcoming iteration, MILAN 2024, scheduled from February 19 to 27, India is set to host navies from around the world.

Under the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam, the exercise aims to promote camaraderie, cohesion, and collaboration among participating nations. This article delves into the significance of MILAN 2024, its objectives, and the broader implications for maritime diplomacy and security.

MILAN 2024: Diplomatic Outreach and Regional Stability

Moreover, MILAN contributes to navy-civilian exchanges, boosting local economies and cultural exposure.

With the recent geopolitical developments in the Red Sea highlighting maritime vulnerabilities, MILAN underscores the importance of cooperation in safeguarding Sea Lines of Communication. India’s proactive engagement in marine security initiatives positions it as a reliable regional security partner.

In conclusion, MILAN 2024 represents a milestone in India’s naval diplomacy, emphasizing cooperation, mutual respect, and shared responsibility in ensuring maritime safety and security.
