Mumbai:

Director Anurag Basu’s latest urban ensemble drama Metro… In Dino has quietly achieved a significant box office milestone. On its sixth day in theatres, the film has officially become Basu’s fourth highest-grossing film to date, continuing its steady performance despite competition from big-ticket releases.

Day 6 Collection & Total Earnings

On Wednesday (Day 6), Metro… In Dino earned an estimated ₹2.19 crore, bringing its total net domestic collection to nearly ₹27 crore. The film started strong over the weekend and has maintained decent momentum during weekdays.

Day-wise Breakdown (India Net):

  • Day 1 (Friday): ₹4.05 crore

  • Day 2 (Saturday): ₹6.81 crore

  • Day 3 (Sunday): ₹7.79 crore

  • Day 4 (Monday): ₹2.75 crore

  • Day 5 (Tuesday): ₹3.25 crore

  • Day 6 (Wednesday): ₹2.19 crore
Total so far: ₹26.84 crore (approx)

The whole interval stretch in #MetroInDino with Dil Ka Kya playing in background hit the perfect emotional high with strong emotions and drama and makes you feel invested. Anurag Basu beautifully executed this storytelling. Was missing this particular Bollywood magic so much. pic.twitter.com/90T8ZVhcUi

Climbing Basu’s Filmography Chart

With its current total, Metro… In Dino has surpassed some of Anurag Basu’s previous outings in terms of box office earnings, now ranking just below his biggest hits:

Top 5 Anurag Basu Films by Box Office:

  1. Barfi! – ₹120 crore

  2. Jagga Jasoos – ₹53.4 crore

  3. Kites – ₹49.3 crore

  4. Metro… In Dino – ₹26.84 crore (and counting)

  5. Life in a… Metro – ₹15.6 crore

While it won’t reach Barfi! territory, the film’s consistent earnings prove that Basu’s unique brand of emotional storytelling still finds takers among today’s audience.

Strong Urban Response Despite Competition

Despite clashing with major international titles like Jurassic World: Rebirth and domestic holdovers such as Sitaare Zameen Par, Metro… In Dino has held its ground, particularly in metropolitan areas like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. Night shows saw occupancy as high as 18%, with the film appealing to a niche but loyal urban demographic.

Audience Reception & Cast Impact

Critics and audiences alike have praised the film’s soulful soundtrack, heartfelt themes, and solid performances. The cast featuring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, and others has been lauded for their authentic portrayal of modern relationships.

The music by Pritam, especially the title track “In Dino,” continues to gain traction across streaming platforms, adding to the film’s emotional pull.

Looking Ahead

With word-of-mouth continuing to be positive and minimal drop-offs during the weekdays, Metro… In Dino is expected to cross the ₹30 crore mark comfortably by the end of its first week. Its real test will be the second weekend, where it hopes to benefit from the absence of any major Bollywood releases.

Metro… In Dino might not be a runaway blockbuster, but it’s a quiet success story that reaffirms Anurag Basu’s position as a filmmaker with a deep emotional connect with the audience. With a strong ensemble, memorable music, and relatable themes, the film’s current run proves that even in today’s high-octane box office battles, subtle storytelling still has a place.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
