April 9, 2026: In a rare and unexpected public address on April 9, 2026, First Lady Melania Trump firmly denied any personal or social ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, condemning persistent allegations as “lies” and “mean-spirited attempts” to damage her reputation.
Speaking from the White House foyer, flanked by American flags, Trump delivered prepared remarks in a composed yet resolute tone. “The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today,” she said, sharply criticizing those spreading the claims as lacking “ethical standards, humility, and respect.”
This is gobsmacking. Not only did Melania Trump suddenly decide to give a televised address about Jeffrey Epstein, she’s calling on Congress to “act,” because Epstein was “not alone.” So she just threw a giant stick of political dynamite on the issue her husband despises! pic.twitter.com/DUi2qAupoZ

She clarified that she had “never been friends” with Epstein and that any overlap between them was limited to attending the same high-society events in New York and Palm Beach. Trump also denied any relationship with Epstein’s longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell, describing a past email exchange with Maxwell as merely “casual correspondence.”

Addressing long-circulating rumors directly, the First Lady stated that she was never a victim of Epstein, was not introduced to her husband, former President Donald Trump, by him, and had never traveled on Epstein’s aircraft or visited his private island. She further asserted she had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities and “was not a participant in any way.”
Trump also warned of “numerous fake images and statements” circulating online, urging the public to be cautious about misinformation. She added that her legal team has successfully challenged several of these claims, suggesting prior retractions or legal victories.
The address came without prior notice and at a time when the Epstein controversy had largely receded from headlines. According to aides, the statement was driven by mounting frustration over recurring online rumors, including AI-generated content and recycled allegations that continued to surface.
Despite not taking questions, Trump used the moment to call for accountability and justice for Epstein’s victims. She urged Congress to hold public hearings where survivors could testify under oath. “Each and every woman should have her day to tell her story in public if she wishes,” she said, emphasizing the need for transparency.
The brief but forceful statement has thrust the Epstein issue back into public discourse and marks one of the few occasions the First Lady has directly addressed a major controversy on camera.
