Mahua Moitra, the leader of the Trinamool Congress, left her government-allotted Delhi mansion on Friday. The Directorate of Estates (DoE) on Tuesday sent Moitra with an eviction notice. Moitra was ousted as a Lok Sabha MP in December of last year.
According to Mahua Moitra’s representative, she had fully vacated the bungalow by 10 am on Friday morning and the possession was handed over by her lawyers to the Directorate of Estates.
The Delhi High Court, which directed Moitra to leave the government home and declined to postpone the DoE notice, did not grant her any respite on Thursday.
According to Justice Girish Kathpalia, no particular rule addressing the removal of Members of Parliament from official housing upon their resignation as legislators has been presented before the court.
