Delhi intensifies its fight against drugs with the destruction of a massive ₹2622 crore haul. Lt. Governor VK Saxena emphasized the unwavering commitment to eradicating narcotics, building on previous large-scale destructions as the city aims for a drug-free future by 2027.

NEW DELHI, Delhi,– April 3, 2025 – In a significant stride towards achieving a “Drug Free Delhi” by 2027, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Thursday initiated the destruction of 1,643 kilograms of seized drugs and narcotics. The haul, valued at approximately Rs 2,622 crore in the international market, represents a major blow to the city’s illicit drug trade.
Ina post on X, Saxena said that this latest destruction underscored the Delhi Police’s unwavering commitment to the central government’s “Zero Tolerance Policy” against narcotics, spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
“Our fight against drugs…continues unabated,” stated Saxena, highlighting the relentless pursuit of a drug-free society.

The destruction of these narcotics is part of an ongoing, aggressive campaign. Previous operations have seen the incineration of substantial quantities of illegal substances, including 2,888 kilograms in December 2022, 15,700 kilograms in June 2023, 10,631 kilograms in February 2024, 10,602 kilograms in December 2024, and 1,575 kilograms in January 2025. Cumulatively, the destroyed drugs are estimated to have an international market value of approximately Rs 7,900 crore, the LG said.
