Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) V.K. Saxena reviewed the progress of Single Window Camps for PM-UDAY, organized by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). Expressing satisfaction with the enthusiastic response from the public, the LG emphasized the need to continue the mission-mode exercise aimed at granting ownership rights to residents of unauthorized colonies under the ambitious PM-UDAY scheme.
Held across 10 locations within unauthorized colonies over the weekends of November 30–December 1, and December 7–8, 2024, the camps attracted 13,353 applicants. Many residents successfully addressed application deficiencies, received approvals on the spot, and even completed final property registration processes with Sub-Registrars from the Revenue Department stationed at the camps.
Extended Hours and Rain Didn’t Deter Residents
Camps functioned until as late as 10:30 PM to ensure all applicants were served, even amidst inclement weather. The LG’s earlier visit to a Najafgarh camp inspired the inclusion of Sub-Registrars, facilitating on-the-spot property registration—a move widely appreciated by attendees.
Proactive Participation by Residents
More than 2,000 new applications were filed during these camps, showcasing widespread enthusiasm. Over the last two weeks:
- 506 Conveyance Deeds/Authorization Slips were issued.
- 21 properties were registered, completing the ownership process.
- Thousands of pending applications were cleared of deficiencies, with hundreds gaining approval.
Comprehensive Services Offered
The camps provide assistance with:
- Issuing Conveyance Deeds and Authorization Slips.
- Conducting GIS Surveys.
- New property registration.
- Guidance on bond notarization.
Sub-Registrars are now a regular feature, streamlining the final property registration process.
Broader Impact
These camps complement other initiatives directed by the LG, such as special camps for clearing property mutations due to inheritance and facilitating electricity connections for 14,000 applicants under the land-pooling policy. These efforts aim to provide relief to millions living in Delhi’s 1,731 unauthorized colonies.
Camps last weekend were held at key locations, including Burari, Raj Nagar, Maidan Garhi, Rohini, Mohan Garden, and Sangam Vihar, further extending the scheme’s outreach.
PM-UDAY: A Landmark Initiative
The PM-UDAY scheme seeks to grant ownership rights to residents, providing legal recognition and transforming lives in unauthorized colonies. LG Saxena urged all eligible residents to utilize these camps to secure their property rights and improve their living conditions.
