Tensions escalate in Delhi as Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena orders a high-level probe into AAP’s proposed Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana. Allegations by Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit of fraudulent data collection spark a political storm, with Arvind Kejriwal accusing the BJP and Congress of collusion to derail AAP's welfare promises.

With Delhi Assembly elections looming, a political showdown erupts over AAP’s welfare schemes. Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit’s accusations of fraud prompt an inquiry by the LG, while Arvind Kejriwal counters with claims of sabotage by BJP-Congress forces.

Lieutenant Governor (LG) V.K. Saxena has directed a high-level inquiry into the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) proposed Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana following allegations by Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit. The former Member of Parliament and Congress candidate for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections claimed that AAP is misleading citizens by collecting personal data under the guise of welfare promises.

Dikshit alleged that AAP announced plans to give women aged 18 and above ₹1,000 per month and increase the amount to ₹2,100 if re-elected. He accused the party of organizing unauthorized door-to-door campaigns to collect personal details, calling the activity a fraud.
The LG noted that the Women and Child Development Department clarified it has yet to notify the scheme or authorize data collection. He has instructed the Chief Secretary to investigate through the Divisional Commissioner and ordered the Delhi Police to take legal action against unauthorized individuals involved in fraudulent enrollments.

Kejriwal Responds to Probe

AAP National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal strongly criticized the inquiry, alleging collusion between the BJP and Congress to undermine AAP’s welfare schemes. Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal claimed the BJP lacked the courage to act directly and instead used Congress leader Dikshit to file the complaint.
Kejriwal dismissed the allegations, asserting that the welfare schemes, including the Mahila Samman Card and Sanjeevani Yojna, are campaign promises for implementation after re-election. “What is there to investigate? These are promises, not yet implemented programs,” he stated, urging residents to continue registering.

AAP vs. BJP and Congress

Kejriwal accused the BJP of disrupting AAP’s registration drives, sending “goons,” and using Delhi Police to halt the process. He alleged the BJP is contesting the election to dismantle welfare initiatives and claimed they are “anti-women.”
In a defiant tone, Kejriwal said, “If they send me to jail, I’ll go again, but I’ll keep fighting for you.” He urged Delhi residents to trust him and support AAP’s welfare agenda.

Political Tensions Ahead of Delhi Elections

With Delhi Assembly elections approaching, the controversy has intensified the political battle. AAP has framed the probe as a targeted attempt to derail its campaign, while the BJP and Congress claim accountability is necessary. The results of the inquiry and public sentiment will likely play a crucial role in shaping the election’s outcome

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
