Officials said the CBI has brought back a terrorist connected to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) from Rwanda, who is accused of supplying funds and weapons to militant groups in Bengaluru.
As per authorities, Salman Rehman Khan’s extradition was a covert mission carried out by the CBI’s Global Operations Centre working closely with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Kigali.
Khan is alleged to have participated in a criminal plot, been a member of a terrorist group, and assisted the Pakistan-based LeT with resources.
In 2023, the NIA filed a case against him for violations of the Arms Act, the Explosive Substances Act, and terrorism-related provisions.
It is claimed that he helped provide arms, ammunition, and explosives for terrorist operations in Bengaluru.
The Bengaluru City Police began the case after a significant weapons confiscation at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. In a raid conducted last year, law enforcement found seven handguns, four grenades, a magazine, 45 rounds of ammunition, and four communication devices.

An inquiry discovered that the weapons were connected to a bigger system with the goal of promoting extremist beliefs and assisting LeT activities.
On October 25, 2023, the NIA assumed responsibility for the case and pinpointed Khan as a key agent involved in aiding the transfer of weapons, bullets, and money to terror groups in Bengaluru.
The situation escalated after Interpol released a Red Notice on August 2nd this year at the request of the CBI.
Based on intelligence information, he was located in Rwanda. NIA’s security team returned him to India to face legal action.
The CBI has extradited three wanted criminals this month, with this being the third one.
