Leh, April 8, 2026 — In a major push to boost tourism and promote Ladakh’s cultural heritage, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Tuesday launched two key digital platforms — the official Ladakh Tourism portal and a dedicated website for the Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha.
The portals were unveiled at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat in Leh in the presence of senior officials, monks, and revered rinpoches, marking a significant step toward enhancing the Union Territory’s global outreach in tourism and spirituality.
The newly launched Ladakh Tourism portal has been designed as a comprehensive digital hub to promote Ladakh as a premier travel destination. It offers tourists reliable and updated information while showcasing the region’s diverse attractions, including its rich spiritual heritage, tribal traditions, adventure tourism, wildlife, eco-tourism, wellness tourism, and emerging sectors such as astro-tourism and film tourism.
Officials said the platform features a dynamic tourism calendar to help visitors plan trips around major festivals and events, along with real-time advisories on weather, health, and travel conditions.
In a major ease-of-doing-business reform, the portal also enables online registration for hotels, guest houses, and homestays. The number of required documents has been reduced from 18 to just two, while the validity period has been extended from one year to five years, significantly easing compliance for stakeholders.
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor also launched the Sacred Buddha Relics Exposition portal, ahead of a major religious event scheduled to begin on May 1, coinciding with Buddha Purnima.

The portal will provide detailed information about the exposition and related programmes, including interfaith dialogues and seminars. Devotees will also be able to book online slots and secure priority passes for the veneration of the sacred relics.
Highlighting the importance of the initiatives, Saxena said the digital platforms would strengthen tourism promotion, improve service delivery, and preserve Ladakh’s cultural legacy. He emphasized that the move aligns with the broader vision of leveraging technology for sustainable and inclusive development.
The tourism portal, launched for the first time since Ladakh became a Union Territory, also incorporates AI-enabled travel planning features, allowing visitors to customize itineraries based on their preferences and budget.
Officials said the initiative aims to position Ladakh as a global hub for adventure, spiritual, and wellness tourism, while ensuring that local communities benefit from the growth of the sector.
