“This is not just a conflict; it is genocide,” KIM asserted, further accusing radical forces of using state machinery and private militias to pursue an agenda of annihilation. The group pointed to a June 7, 2023, declaration by radical leaders, which they claim intensified the violence, framing it as a “Manipuri National War” against the Kuki-Zo community.
In response to the escalating violence, KIM issued a firm demand for the creation of a Union Territory for the Kuki-Zo community, calling it essential for ensuring the safety, survival, and constitutional rights of their people. “The establishment of a Union Territory is no longer a political debate but a vital necessity for our survival,” KIM declared, stressing that the Kuki-Zo community can no longer endure further marginalization or violence.
The organization also called for an immediate halt to hostilities and propaganda from COCOMI and radical Meitei leaders. KIM warned that continued aggression would only deepen the crisis and prolong injustices in Manipur.
Janghaolun Haokip, Secretary of Information and Publicity for KIM, reiterated the organization’s commitment to resisting any efforts to erase the identity and rights of the Kuki-Zo people. “We will fight with unwavering resolve for justice, dignity, and the preservation of our heritage,” he said.
