Mamata Banerjee unable to handle the law and order properly
It appears that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is losing her grip on the situation. The reason is not that the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Left are prevailing in the storytelling battle in the Kolkata rape-and-murder case. Her leadership and the Trinamool Congress appear careless and lost as public discontent and demonstrations increase.
She is correct in saying that the brutal tragedy involving the 31-year-old doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has been politicized. But who is more knowledgeable about the politics of protests than Banerjee? She bears numerous scars on her body from the injuries she received while leading hundreds of protests on the streets of Bengal as an Opposition leader.

Continuous blame game by Mamata
Multiple inquiries have been made regarding the involvement and reaction of law enforcement, efforts to cover it up as a suicide, and various conspiracy theories. I am only focusing on two of these questions, as they relate to Team Banerjee’s political acumen.
Why would the government choose to move the RG Kar principal to a different well-known hospital instead of just firing him immediately and having the police interrogate him? That was possibly the most obvious error that supported rumors of trying to conceal the truth. The government decided to protect the principal instead of sacrificing him. It is difficult to comprehend why someone as astute as Banerjee would make such a decision.

‘Mamata should resign’ is the voice from all quarters
The mother of Nirbhaya, the victim of the 2012 Delhi gang rape case, has sought West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s resignation, claiming she “failed” to handle the situation following widespread protests against the violent rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata.
Speaking to the news agency PTI, Asha Devi also chastised Ms Banerjee for “trying to divert people’s attention” by organizing protests. Mamata Banerjee led a rally this week demanding the death punishment for those found guilty in the case.
BJP has time and again demanded that Mamata Banerjee resign from the post of the Chief Minister. “Mamata Banerjee has become Mamata the destroyer. By her misdeeds she has destroyed the dignity of a woman, a doctor who was serving the society,” the party stated.
