Officials stated on Monday that an 18-year-old girl from Kerala, who reportedly relied on YouTube for her weight loss diet and had been living on water for several months, passed away from “anorexia.”

The teenager from Koothuparamba in Kannur, identified as Sreenanda, was struggling with this eating disorder that leads individuals to obsess over weight and food. Individuals experiencing this condition view themselves as “overweight,” despite having a slim body, and tend to refrain from eating.

As stated by the family and physicians, Sreenanda had endured this condition for almost 5 to 6 months.

They stated that the adolescent barely consumed any food for several months and kept it a secret from her family.

“About five months back, she was taken to the hospital, and the doctors advised that she needs to eat and asked the family to get psychiatric consultation,” officials said.

A relative mentioned that Sreenanda would not consume food provided by her parents and lived on hot water for an extended period.

The family brought her to Kozhikode Medical College and Hospital, where examinations were performed on her. The doctors recommended that the family provide her with enough nourishment and seek psychiatric consultation for her.

Her blood sugar decreased two weeks ago, along with respiratory problems. She was promptly taken to Thalaserry Co-operative Hospital.

Dr. Nagesh Manohar Prabhu, a consultant physician, stated that she was admitted to the hospital roughly 12 days ago and was taken directly to the ICU.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
