Jayant Sinha, a former Union Minister and BJP MP from Hazaribagh, requested on Saturday that BJP president JP Nadda release him from his election responsibilities so that he could devote his time to fighting climate change in India and around the globe.
“I have requested JP Nadda to relieve me of my direct electoral duties so that I can focus my efforts on combating global climate change in Bharat and around the world,” Sinha stated, expressing his desire not to run in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Naturally, I’ll keep collaborating with the party on matters of government and the economy.”
Former Minister of State for Finance and Civil Aviation in the Narendra Modi Cabinet, Sinha, thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the chances they had given him.
“I have had the privilege of serving the people of Bharat and Hazaribagh for the past ten years,” he said.
Sinha’s announcement came hours after another party leader, Gautam Gambhir, made a similar appeal to JP Nadda.
