An Indian civil engineer passed away in the UAE while participating in a scuba diving activity during the Eid Al Adha celebrations. The 29-year-old individual, named Issac Paul Olakkengil, was in Dubai with his family when he attended the session at Jumerah Beach on Friday (June 6), as reported by Khaleej Times.
Originating from the southern Indian state of Kerala, Olakkengil was celebrating the holidays with his wife, Resham, and younger brother, Ivin, when the disaster occurred. Olakkengil experienced a cardiac arrest following trouble breathing while submerged.
According to David Pyarilos, Olakkengil’s uncle, who is managing the family’s legal matters, the event occurred during a training session at a specific scuba diving location. Reshma and Ivin were undergoing training when things unexpectedly worsened.

“It seems they were getting trained for scuba diving, and apparently, he [Issac] couldn’t breathe properly and moved away from the pack,” said Mr Pyarilos.
Investigation Underway
As Olakkengil was taken to the hospital, where he could not be revived, his brother Ivin fainted upon arrival and is now being monitored. Mr. Pyarilos stated he was no longer in danger, but doctors were monitoring him closely.
“They are all engineers.” While Issac and Reshma are located in Dubai, Ivin is situated in Abu Dhabi. Pyarilos stated, “Ivin’s friends recently expressed their worries about delivering this heartbreaking news to him, given the close connection the brothers had.”
Ivin learned about his brother’s death on Saturday, as the family collaborates with the police to finalize the investigation. The officials in Dubai have confiscated the gear utilized in the scuba diving session for examination.
