The Indian Army’s swift response thwarted a major Pakistani assault on the Golden Temple. Air defence gunners neutralized every incoming drone and missile, ensuring the sanctity of the holy shrine remained untouched.

In a shocking revelation, the Indian army has revealed that Pakistan launched drones and long-range missiles at the Golden Temple in Amritsar following India’s precision strikes on nine terror camps across the border. Indian Army air defence units, anticipating such symbolic attacks, successfully intercepted all incoming threats, preventing any damage to the revered Sikh shrine.
Major General Kartik C. Seshadri, GOC of the 15th Infantry Division, stated that Pakistan, “lacking legitimate military targets,” deliberately aimed at civilian and religious landmarks. “Golden Temple appeared to be the most prominent target. We had already deployed advanced air defence assets to form a protective shield. Not a single drone or missile touched the holy site,” he affirmed.

The attempted strike on the Golden Temple came shortly after a Pakistani drone attack on a gurdwara in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed three pilgrims and injured several others. The assault has been widely denounced as a blatant violation of international norms and an attack on religious sanctity.

On May 8, as Pakistan launched a wave of unmanned aerial assaults, including drones, loitering munitions, and missiles, India’s Akash missile system and L-70 air defence guns were mobilised to full effect. A public demonstration later showcased how these systems safeguarded not only Amritsar but also other cities in Punjab during the escalation.

The targeted nature of these attacks, especially on places of worship, has intensified outrage across India. Critics have called Pakistan’s actions a deliberate provocation aimed at inciting communal tension. Indian forces, meanwhile, responded through Operation Sindoor, striking terror bases in Muridke and Bahawalpur with pinpoint accuracy while avoiding civilian and military infrastructure.
