India dismisses Canadian minister’s allegations against Amit Shah and lodges a strong protest
On Saturday, the government dismissed the Canadian minister’s accusations against the Union Home Minister as “ridiculous and without foundation” and lodged a strong protest over Ottawa’s allegations. On Friday, the Canadian High Commission’s representative was called in and given a note expressing opposition to the allegations.
Addressing a press conference today, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “Regarding the latest Canadian target, we summoned the representative of the Canadian High Commission yesterday… It was conveyed in the note that the Government of India protests in the strongest terms to the absurd and baseless references made to the Union Home Minister of India before the Committee by Deputy Minister David Morrison.”

The government dismissed the allegations and said the move was aimed at discrediting India and “influencing other nations”.
Infact, the revelations of that senior Canadian officials intentionally share baseless accusations with the global media as a deliberate tactic to undermine India and sway other countries only solidifies India’s longstanding perception of the Canadian government’s political motives and actions.
The MEA strongly criticized the monitoring of Indian consular officials in Canada and stated that a formal complaint has been filed with the government led by Justin Trudeau regarding the matter. The government described the monitoring of its officials as a clear breach of diplomatic norms.
