The lawmaker claims the Pakistan government has restricted all meetings and barred the release of any images of Imran Khan, fuelling speculation and creating what he calls a “complete violation of human rights” as pressure mounts inside Adiala Jail.

November 30, 2025: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Khurram Zeeshan has dismissed widespread rumours about former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s death in custody, saying the jailed PTI chief is alive but being held in extreme isolation as part of an alleged pressure campaign to force him out of the country.
Speaking to ANI from Pakistan on Saturday, Zeeshan said:
“Imran Khan is alive and currently lodged in Adiala jail. We have received assurances in the last few days. He is okay. But what is happening to him is a complete violation of human rights.”
His comments come after several Afghanistan-based social media accounts claimed earlier this week that Khan had been killed inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala prison — claims that spread rapidly online amid the Pakistani authorities’ refusal to release any recent images or videos of the former prime minister.

‘Isolation Being Used As Pressure Tactic’
Zeeshan alleged that Khan’s prolonged solitary confinement — including restrictions on meeting his sisters, lawyers and senior PTI leaders despite court orders — is part of an effort by the current government to compel him to accept exile.
“They are trying to strike a deal with Imran Khan, asking him to leave the country. They have offered concessions if he stays silent abroad. But Imran Khan will never agree. That is not who he is,” he said.
Khan’s sisters have publicly protested that they have not been allowed to see him for nearly a month, fueling speculation about his health and safety.

Rumours, Silence and an Information Vacuum
The death rumours escalated after the government refused to permit any public release of Khan’s photos since his incarceration.
According to Zeeshan, this blackout is deliberate.
“The regime is threatened by Imran Khan’s popularity. They know even a single photo could galvanise people. That is why no pictures are allowed,” he said.
Earlier, Khan’s son had demanded “proof of life” from Pakistani authorities, calling the silence “deeply alarming.”
‘His Influence Is Only Growing’
Despite being imprisoned, Khan remains one of Pakistan’s most influential political figures. PTI continues to command strong support, particularly among younger voters.
“PTI has a bright future,” Zeeshan said. “Situations like this strengthen movements built on conviction. People who truly believe in these values are stepping forward.”
He added that Imran Khan’s ideology “has begun to resonate across generations,” and the government’s attempts to silence him are only deepening public sympathy.
