The renaming push — including the proposal for Donald Trump Avenue — comes ahead of the Telangana Rising Global Summit, with the state government saying the move will showcase Hyderabad’s global connections and ambition.

December 8, 2025: In an unprecedented branding push ahead of the upcoming “Telangana Rising Global Summit”, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has proposed renaming several major roads in Hyderabad after global political and technology giants — including “Donald Trump Avenue”, “Google Street”, “Microsoft Road”, and “Wipro Junction”.
The most high-profile among them is the proposal to name the arterial road beside the US Consulate as “Donald Trump Avenue”, a move officials claim would be a global first in honouring a sitting US President outside America.
Alongside this, the government is considering “Google Street” to recognise the tech giant’s massive new Hyderabad campus, “Microsoft Road” to honour one of Microsoft’s largest global workforces based in the city, and “Wipro Junction” to acknowledge the Indian IT major’s longstanding contribution to Hyderabad’s tech boom.

A Branding Blitz: Roads Named After Tech Giants
The Trump proposal is part of a broader state-driven branding strategy aimed at aligning Hyderabad’s infrastructure with its global aspirations.
Officials revealed that the government is actively considering naming major stretches after iconic global corporations that have invested heavily in the city’s tech ecosystem. Among the names under review:
- “Google Street” — recognising the tech giant’s expanding footprint in Hyderabad, including its new campus.
- “Microsoft Road” — honouring Microsoft’s long-standing presence and one of its largest employee bases outside the US.
- “Wipro Junction” — marking the contribution of the Indian IT major to the city’s tech growth.
A senior official said the naming spree is meant to “signal Hyderabad’s arrival as a globally connected innovation hub that speaks the language of technology, investment, and international collaboration.”

Ratan Tata Honoured with Key Greenfield Road
Beyond political and corporate leaders, the state has also decided to name the 100-metre Greenfield Radial Road, which connects the Nehru Outer Ring Road at Raviryala to the proposed ultra-modern Future City, after Padma Bhushan Ratan Tata.
The crucial Raviryala interchange has already been rebranded as the “Tata Interchange”, marking the state’s gratitude for Tata Group’s contributions to India’s industrial and philanthropic landscape.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy defended the naming spree, saying it serves two goals:
- Motivating citizens by honouring global achievers, and
- Elevating Hyderabad’s brand identity on the world stage.
“Every time a commuter passes through these roads, they should be reminded of what global excellence looks like,” he said. “Hyderabad must project confidence, ambition, and world-class identity.”
BJP Pushes Back: “Rename Hyderabad Back To Bhagyanagar”
The move has triggered political friction, particularly with the BJP.
Union Minister and senior BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar slammed the state government, accusing it of indulging in superficial rebranding.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he said:
“If the Congress government is so eager to change names, they might as well start with something that actually has history and meaning. Hyderabad should be renamed back to Bhagyanagar.”
He further alleged that the Chief Minister was renaming public spaces based on “whoever is trending on social media.”
“The only party stepping out, questioning the government, and taking up real issues through MahaDharna is the BJP,” he declared.
The proposals will now move through administrative vetting. If formally approved, Hyderabad may soon boast some of the most globally recognisable road names — all part of Telangana’s aggressive push to position itself as a global economic leader.
