The victim’s family says the dispute with a neighbour had been simmering for months before it erupted violently on Thursday night.

A late-night parking dispute in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area turned deadly on Thursday, claiming the life of Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi’s cousin.

Police identified the victim as 42-year-old Asif Qureshi. The clash reportedly broke out around 11 pm in Jangpura when Asif was parking his two-wheeler outside his home. A verbal altercation with a neighbour escalated, and Asif was attacked with a sharp weapon.

He was taken to hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Family members said similar parking disagreements had occurred with the same neighbour before.

“When my husband came home from work, the neighbour’s scooter was blocking our entrance. He asked them to move it, but an argument began. The neighbour abused him and then killed him with a sharp object,” alleged Asif’s wife.

Delhi Police have arrested two suspects, recovered the weapon, and plan to produce the accused in court on Friday. Officers are also questioning local residents and eyewitnesses.

The killing adds to a spate of violent parking disputes in the capital. On July 14, a bike mechanic in RK Puram allegedly poured petrol on a man sitting inside his car and set him on fire after an argument over parking. The victim, Rahul Chauhan, was admitted to the Trauma Centre with serious burns.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
