Actor Dhanush has voiced strong criticism against the unauthorized re-release of Raanjhanaa, which featured an AI-modified climax. The 2013 romantic drama, known for its emotionally intense and tragic ending, has recently resurfaced with a digitally altered version that reportedly softens the film’s conclusion.
In a statement, Dhanush condemned the use of artificial intelligence to tamper with the original vision of the film, calling it a “violation of artistic integrity.” He emphasized that the altered version not only undermines the director’s intent but also “strips the film of its very soul,” betraying the emotional journey the creators and audience originally committed to.
His remarks come amidst a growing debate over the ethical use of AI in cinema, especially in reviving or rewriting established works without consent from the original creative team.
