Launching the campaign for the upcoming Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joined forces, emphasizing the importance of preserving the Constitution amid rising tensions in the country.
Rahul Gandhi, speaking at a corner meeting in Mananthavady, highlighted that the ongoing struggle in India centers around protecting the values enshrined in the Constitution, which he described as a document rooted in love and humility, rather than hatred and anger.
“The Constitution was crafted by those who suffered under colonial rule, those who fought for our freedom and endured countless hardships,” he asserted. “Today, our fight is one of love versus hatred, confidence versus insecurity. To truly win this battle, we must replace anger and hatred with compassion and humility.”
Rahul also shared poignant memories of their childhood, illustrating Priyanka’s empathetic nature, recalling how she embraced Nalini, a woman implicated in their father Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination. “That kind of politics—one based on love and understanding—is what India needs now,” he emphasized.
Priyanka Gandhi, making her electoral debut, echoed her brother’s sentiments while launching a fierce critique of the Modi government. “Modi ji’s government serves only his wealthy businessman friends,” she declared, arguing that its true priorities lie far from improving the lives of ordinary citizens. “Their objective is not to create jobs or enhance healthcare; it’s to maintain power by dividing the people and stoking hatred.”
As Priyanka resumed her campaign activities alongside Rahul, she expressed gratitude to the people of Wayanad for their courage and resilience, invoking the legacy of local heroes like Pazhassi Raja and Thalakkal Chanthu. “You have always fought for equality and justice, regardless of your backgrounds,” she stated, urging constituents to stand against oppression and uphold democratic values.
Together, the Gandhi siblings rallied their supporters with a message of unity, compassion, and a call to safeguard the Constitution as they embark on this critical electoral journey in Keral
