According to the Amsterdam police on Thursday, at least five individuals were injured in a stabbing incident close to Dam Square in central Amsterdam, and a suspect has been arrested. A spokesperson for the police has yet to confirm the reason for the attack.
“We currently have no information about the cause or motive of the stabbing incident. This is part of our investigation,” news agency AFP quoted Dutch Police as saying.

After the incident, the Dutch police have secured a section that encompasses Dam Square. A helicopter for emergencies has been sent out, with videos making the rounds on social media displaying the helicopter near the Royal Palace.
Emergency vehicles can additionally be observed within the restricted area. As per local media sources, Amsterdam’s mayor Femke Halsema, suddenly departed from a town hall meeting after learning of the attack.
Officials have asked those who have taken photos of the event to provide them as possible proof.
