At least five individuals lost their lives, while 28 others were saved following the collapse of a three-storey building in Transport Nagar, Lucknow on Saturday evening. Officials have stated that there are still concerns that multiple individuals are trapped under the rubble.
In regards to the incident, Lucknow Police Commissioner Roshan Jacob told India Today TV that five bodies have been found and 28 individuals have been safely rescued from the collapsed building in Transport Nagar.
The collapsed building was being used as a godown
The building collapse also crushed a truck parked nearby. The incident happened at approximately 5 in the evening. Officials claimed that the structure was being utilized as a warehouse.

Rescue teams at the spot; rescue ops underway
The NDRF, SDRF, fire department, police, and revenue department teams are all on site. The hospital has admitted the wounded and the rescue operations are underway.
Officials have stated that the cause of the building collapse is still unknown.
CM Yogi overseeing rescue efforts closely
At the same time, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is overseeing all the progress and has instructed the officials to guarantee appropriate care for the wounded.
“UP CM Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident of collapse of building in Transport Nagar, Lucknow. The Chief Minister has instructed the district administration officials, SDRF and NDRF teams to reach the spot and expedite the relief work and immediately take the injured to the hospital for proper treatment. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement.
