Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to the stampede incident as “extremely sad” and conveyed his “deepest condolences” to the devotees who have lost their dear ones.

At least 15 individuals are said to have lost their lives in the “stampede-like scenario” at Mahakumbh Mela. So far, there has been no formal verification of the precise death toll in the incident.

PM Modi stated in a post on X that the stampede at Mahakumbh Mela early Wednesday was “extremely sad.”

“The accident that happened in Prayagraj Maha Kumbh is extremely sad. My deepest condolences to the devotees who have lost their loved ones in this. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured. The local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

PM Modi talked about the incident during a rally in Delhi as well.

“A devastating incident happened in Kumbh. Numerous individuals lost lives and sustained injuries. I extend my sympathies to their relatives. I hope the wounded recover quickly. I am in regular communication with the Uttar Pradesh government,” he stated.

The Prime Minister stated that morning bathing was temporarily halted because of the incident, but it eventually continued and is proceeding without issues.

Ambulances quickly arrived at the scene, and the wounded were transported to a temporary hospital set up in the Kumbh Mela area. Officials urged the worshippers to leave the area after they had bathed in the Sangam.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
