December 18, 2025: Freshly released images from the estate of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein include photographs of him seated alongside renowned linguist and public intellectual Noam Chomsky, apparently aboard an aircraft. The images were made public by Democrats on the US House Oversight Committee.
Chomsky, now 97, has previously been named in Epstein-related documents, mainly in connection with academic or personal correspondence. He has told The Wall Street Journal that Epstein once helped move money between his bank accounts, stressing that the transaction did not involve Epstein’s funds. “I knew him and we met occasionally,” Chomsky said earlier. There is no suggestion that appearing in the photographs implies any wrongdoing.

The latest release comprises 68 images, some of which are partially redacted, with faces and identifying details obscured. Among them are photographs of Epstein, images showing multiple people, diagrams of building plans, and copies of passports and identity documents from several countries. Most personal details on these documents have been blacked out, though some passports are marked female under gender, including those from Russia, Ukraine, South Africa, Lithuania and the Czech Republic. A photograph of Epstein’s own passport is also included.

Several images show handwritten text on parts of a person’s body. The writing appears to quote passages from Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita, a novel about the grooming of a young girl by a middle-aged literature professor. The context of these photographs, including whether the writing appears on one individual or multiple people, remains unclear.

Lawmakers clarified that this release should not be confused with the long-anticipated “Epstein files”, which relate to Justice Department records from two criminal investigations into Epstein. Under legislation passed by Congress and signed into law, those files are due to be released by December 19, subject to certain limitations.
The Oversight Committee said the images were shared without accompanying context, and further scrutiny of the material is ongoing.
