In a significant leadership change at Apple, executive Sabih Khan, of Indian descent, has been named the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company.
Khan, a member of Apple for almost three decades, will formally assume the position later this month, replacing Jeff Williams, the longtime COO.
Khan, Apple’s current Vice President of Operations, has been instrumental in the company’s growth, particularly in developing and overseeing its worldwide supply chain. Apple CEO Tim Cook referred to him as “an exceptional strategist and one of the key figures behind Apple’s supply chain.”

Sabih Khan’s Bio
Born in 1966 in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Sabih Khan lived in India till the age of 10 before his family relocated to Singapore. He ultimately moved to the United States, where he sought higher education and started his career path.
He earned his bachelor’s degrees in economics and mechanical engineering from Tufts University and his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Before his role at Apple, Sabih Khan worked at GE Plastics as an applications development engineer and a key account technical leader.
Khan joined Apple in 1995 and has remained with the company for almost three decades, significantly influencing the global supply chain that supports Apple’s operations worldwide.

He has been a significant driving force behind Apple’s sustainability initiatives. Under his guidance, the company has allegedly decreased its carbon footprint by more than 60 percent, due to improved supplier collaborations and sustainable manufacturing methods.

Khan, a key aide to Tim Cook from the beginning, reportedly stood up during a meeting and headed directly to the airport to travel to China to address a manufacturing issue that the Apple CEO characterized as “really bad,” as noted in a 2008 Fortune article.
Even Khan’s predecessor, Jeff Williams, strongly feels that Apple’s leadership remains in capable hands despite his departure. “I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Sabih for 27 years, and I believe he’s the most skilled operations executive in the world,” he stated.
