Donald Trump will take oath for his second term as President of the United States on Monday. Senator JD Vance will also take oath as Vice President at a ceremony featuring lavish displays, celebrity acts, and attended by prominent billionaires and international power figures.
Bitterly cold temperatures, expected to be the coldest since former President Ronald Reagan’s second swearing-in in 1985, have resulted in the ceremony being moved indoors to the US Capitol Rotunda. In spite of the frigid temperatures, around 200,000 fans are anticipated to gather in the US capital to celebrate the beginning of Trump’s second term in the White House.
The event, typically conducted outside at the Capitol, was shifted indoors because of perilously low temperatures. Nonetheless, the restricted area will deny Trump the significant crowds that typically gather for a presidential inauguration.
In a post on Truth Social on Friday, the President-elect stated that safety was his main concern: “I did not want to see anyone harmed or injured in any manner,” Trump remarked.
