In emotional posts, Rohini said she was “orphaned” by her own family, claiming humiliation, verbal abuse, and pressure from Tejashwi’s aides who allegedly wanted her to quit politics.

The rift within RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family appears to have deepened following the party’s electoral setback, with his daughter Rohini Acharya levelling serious allegations against her relatives. Acharya, who donated a kidney to her father in 2022, claimed she was accused by family members of obtaining an election ticket in exchange for a “dirty kidney.”
The 46-year-old leader announced yesterday that she was cutting ties with her family and quitting politics. Her decision marks the second major crisis for the Yadav clan, coming soon after Lalu’s elder son Tej Pratap’s expulsion from the RJD and his failed attempt to contest the Bihar elections independently.
In a series of emotional posts this morning, Acharya described her ordeal, alleging that she was humiliated, abused, and even told that the kidney she donated to her father was “dirty.”

“Yesterday, I was cursed and told that I am dirty… that I transplanted my dirty kidney into my father after taking crores of rupees and buying an election ticket,” she wrote. Acharya had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Saran as an RJD candidate but lost.
She said she was now being punished for choosing her father over her children. “I committed a sin by not looking after my three children, by not taking permission from my husband or my in-laws before donating my kidney. I saved my god—my father—and today that kidney is being called dirty,” she wrote, adding, “May no family ever have a daughter like Rohini.”
In another post, she alleged she faced “filthy abuses” and that a slipper was raised at her. “I did not compromise on my self-respect. I did not surrender the truth. For that, I had to endure this insult,” she said. She added that she had left behind her “crying parents and sisters” and that her maternal home had been “snatched away.”
Argument With Tejashwi
According to sources, the outburst followed a heated argument with her younger brother Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday, during which he allegedly blamed her for the party’s crushing defeat.
“Tumhare karan ham chunaav haar gae… tumhara haay lag gaya (We lost because of you… your curse has fallen upon us),” Tejashwi reportedly shouted before angrily throwing a slipper at her and abusing her.
Acharya claimed she was told to leave politics by senior RJD leaders Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Khan, both close aides of Tejashwi. She said those who question Tejashwi’s advisers are “thrown out of the house.”
“When you take Sanjay and Rameez’s names, you are defamed and attacked with slippers,” she said. “Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a wife, and a mother was humiliated.”

BJP Attacks Lalu Family
The BJP swiftly escalated the controversy, describing the episode as proof of what it called the Yadav family’s “patriarchal, anti-woman mentality.”
Amit Malviya, head of the BJP’s IT cell, said, “Rohini donated her kidney without caring for her life so that Lalu’s life could be extended. Yet he gave more preference to his son Tejashwi than to his daughter’s dignity.”
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha said the family feud reflects the “anarchy” within the RJD. “People who cannot keep their own family together—how will they run Bihar?” he asked.
However, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and Union Minister Chirag Paswan refused to comment, calling all of Lalu’s children “siblings.” He added, “I pray that this family dispute is resolved soon.”

Background Tensions
Acharya was reportedly upset over the expulsion of her elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav for “irresponsible behaviour,” though she continued campaigning for Tejashwi during the assembly election.
In her latest posts, she said she was “taking the blame” for the party’s defeat—its second-worst performance since 2010, with just 25 seats in the 243-member assembly.
Expressing deep anguish, she wrote: “May none of you ever walk the path I had to walk. May no family ever have a daughter-sister like Rohini.”
