Delhi Rains: The weekend began in Delhi-NCR with heavy rain on Saturday, resulting in significant waterlogging in various parts, which brought the national capital to a halt during Raksha Bandhan. Flight operations were impacted too, with Flightradar data indicating more than 100 flights experienced delays and four were cancelled.
Delhi Rains: IMD Issues Red Alert
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a red alert for all of Delhi today. Moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected all day, with the chance of severe intervals in eastern and central Delhi.

Numerous Flights Delayed
Persistent Delhi rains today have led to widespread flight delays and a few cancellations at Indira Gandhi International Airport, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded or facing extended wait times.
Airport officials reported that low visibility, waterlogging on service roads, and challenging runway conditions slowed down both arrivals and departures. Airlines have advised travellers to check flight status online or through official apps before heading to the airport.

As Raksha Bandhan is on Saturday, along with expected rain all day, travelers should prepare for congestion on major routes. A preview of this occurred on Friday, with significant traffic jams observed on National Highway-44 and close to the Haryana border. The IMD has cautioned about ongoing rain in nearby Himachal Pradesh on Saturday. An orange alert for moderate to heavy rainfall has been declared for three districts in the state.
