In a significant political development, Kailash Gahlot, Delhi’s Transport Minister and prominent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member, has stepped down from the party’s main membership. In his resignation letter to AAP’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Gahlot mentioned not-kept commitments and recent disputes for his decision to resign.
Kailash Gahlot, Minister of Delhi in charge of Transport, Administrative Reforms, IT, Home, and Women & Child Development, has also handed in his resignation to the Council of Ministers in the Government of NCT of Delhi.
Gahlot, a key member of the AAP government, voiced disappointment with the party’s failure to fulfill important commitments to the people of Delhi. In his letter, he pointed out the neglect of the Yamuna River cleaning promise made during the election. “We assured the public of a more pristine Yamuna, but we haven’t lived up to that promise,” he stated.
In the letter, he also discussed the dispute regarding Arvind Kejriwal’s new official residence. Gahlot stated that the Sheeshmahal issue, along with other embarrassing and unusual issues, have caused people to doubt if their party still represents the common man.

He also mentioned that the ongoing conflict between the Delhi government and the central government has impeded the city’s development. Gahlot stated that real progress for Delhi is not possible if the Delhi government continues to spend the majority of its time fighting with the Centre.
Kailash Gahlot concluded the letter by saying that he had no other option but to keep himself away from party. “I find myself left with no option but to step away from AAP, and therefore, I am resigning from the primary membership of the party,” he wrote.
