In a significant move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Delhi fulfilled its commitment by approving the ‘Mahila Samriddhi Yojana,’ which will provide a monthly cash assistance of Rs 2,500 for women in the national capital, as stated by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday.

The eagerly awaited approval arrived on the occasion of International Women’s Day, which is being celebrated nationwide today. Talking to reporters, CM Rekha Gupta stated, “We convened a cabinet meeting to mark International Women’s Day. Our cabinet has greenlit the plan – the commitment we made in the Delhi elections to give Rs 2,500 to women.”

The Cabinet has also approved a Rs 5,100 crore allocation in the Delhi budget for executing the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana. A committee has been established under the leadership of the Delhi CM for executing the scheme, and a portal will be introduced shortly, Gupta added.

As per an official announcement, the Rs 5,100 crore annual initiative will offer direct monetary support to women in Delhi and represents a significant move towards achieving economic security and social improvement for women, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The committee, led by Rekha Gupta, also features Cabinet ministers Pravesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, and Kapil Mishra.

The government stated that the initiative will utilize cutting-edge technology to guarantee transparency, efficiency, and smooth distribution of financial benefits.

The government, headed by Rekha Gupta, intends to broaden the advantages of the scheme through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), allowing beneficiaries to receive the funds directly in their bank accounts. Transactions will also utilize Aadhaar-based e-KYC.

All women aged 18 to 60, who are not employed in government positions and receive support from other government financial assistance programs, qualify for the benefits of the scheme.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
