The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a new complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for not responding to its summons in the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. As a result, the ED has ordered Kejriwal to appear in person before the Rouse Avenue Court on March 16.

The most recent ED complaint, according to official sources, concerns summons Nos. 4 through 8, which were issued by the organization between January 14 and March 4 in accordance with Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Two days after Mr. Kejriwal ignored the Central probe agency’s eighth summons, a complaint was filed against him. The AAP chief stated that day that he is prepared to appear via videoconference before the agency on any day following March 12.

On February 17, Mr. Kejriwal appeared via videoconference before the court after being summoned on February 3 in response to the ED’s complaint. He had stated that the ongoing Budget Session would prevent him from being in person for the hearing.
The court had stated when it summoned him last month that Mr. Kejriwal was “legally bound” to abide by the ED’s summons but had “purportedly failed to do so.”
