Delhi is anticipated to face a significant drop in temperatures, with the thermometer likely to fall to approximately 3°C starting December 10, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
This notable decrease signals the beginning of a cold wave that will affect not just the national capital but also the whole northern region, encompassing Punjab, Haryana, and Western Uttar Pradesh, until December 14.
At present, Delhi’s lowest temperature stays near 7°C. Nevertheless, the frigid weather is expected to worsen due to several factors, such as snowfall in the northern mountains and the effects of a Western Disturbance, which may result in light rain in the plains.
The rains anticipated on December 8 and 9 could worsen the cold snap even more.

Weather experts have also cautioned of thick fog in certain areas of northern India on December 9 and 10, which may diminish visibility and affect travel.
Initial indications of this cold wave are already noticeable, as Haryana’s Hisar has reported a temperature of 4.7°C, positioning it as one of the chillier areas in the region.
Residents are advised to get ready for the cold temperatures by taking measures to keep warm, particularly in the early mornings and late nights when the chill will be at its worst.
Travelers are urged to remain informed about weather conditions since fog and freezing temperatures may cause delays and disruptions.
