The escalating feud between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi reflects their history of mutual distrust and political rivalry. The latest clash was triggered after the Congress lodged a complaint accusing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi of misleading the public with promises of “non-existent” welfare schemes.

Senior Congress leader Ajay Maken’s recent remarks—blaming Congress’s 2013 support for AAP for its decline in Delhi—fueled the tensions further. In retaliation, AAP MP Sanjay Singh slammed Maken, alleging he called Kejriwal “anti-national” and demanded Congress take action against him within 24 hours. Singh warned that AAP would consult INDIA bloc partners to consider removing Congress from the Opposition alliance if the issue wasn’t addressed.
Chief minister Atishi accused Congress of collaborating with the BJP to defeat AAP in Delhi. She claimed that the BJP was funding Congress candidates, including Sandeep Dikshit.
“Congress’s actions indicate a mutual understanding with the BJP to weaken AAP,” Atishi stated, highlighting the allegations of covert financial arrangements. ” The BJP is funding the congress campaign with the sole purpose of defeating AAP,,” she said,
The Congress, on the other hand, views AAP as a national troublemaker and blames Kejriwal for undermining its position in key states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, and Haryana by dividing the anti-BJP vote. Congress insiders suggest their goal is to weaken AAP’s grip on Delhi and reclaim political relevance.

“Across the country, AAP acted as the BJP’s B-team, and now Kejriwal has the audacity to accuse us of collusion. No one will believe his claims,” said a senior Congress leader.
Both parties appear focused on unseating Kejriwal in the upcoming Delhi elections. Congress insiders suggest they are hoping for a hung assembly, which could position them as kingmakers. “If that happens, we will make Kejriwal eat humble pie,” said a Congress source.
AAP is seeing a Congress-BJP nexus in Delhi because Youth Congress filed a complaint against Kejriwal after two Delhi government departments issued public notices stating that the proposed Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana had not been officially notified and were “non-existent.”
This move comes amid intensifying criticism from Delhi Congress leaders targeting the ruling AAP. AAP sources claim that several senior Delhi Congress leaders regularly meet BJP bigwigs and aree planning their strategy defeat AAP.
” We’ll not forget that it was the congress which made frivolous complaint us in the so-0called liquor scam to pace the way for arrest of Arvind Kejriwal,” said an AAP leader.
