NEW DELHI, December 16: The Congress today announced to launch nationwide crowdfunding campaign, ‘Donate for Desh’ to generate resources for the party.

The Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will launch the country’s largest crowdfunding campaign by a political party on December 18 in New Delhi.

The Congress party’s General Secretary of Organization, KC Venugopal, and Treasurer, Ajay Maken, announced today that any Indian citizen over the age of 18 can donate a minimum of Rs 138 to the party. Donors can contribute in multiples of Rs 138, such as Rs 1,380 or Rs 13,800 and so on.

Mr. Venugopal stated that the inspiration for the initiative came from Mahatma Gandhi’s historic ‘Tilak Swaraj Fund’, which was launched over a century ago in 1920-21. He added that the primary objective of the initiative is to empower the party to create equal opportunities and resource distribution throughout India.

“Our first campaign, called ‘Donate for Behtar Bharat’, marks the 138-year journey of the Indian National Congress. Honoring our history, we are inviting supporters to donate in multiples of Rs. 138 (for example, Rs. 138, Rs. 1,380, Rs. 13,800 or more), which symbolizes the party’s unwavering commitment towards a better India,” he explained.

The Indian National Congress has set up two channels for online crowdfunding: an official website and a dedicated portal, donateinc.in.

The Congress General Secretary announced that the campaign would be launched by Mr. Kharge, the Congress President, on December 18th in New Delhi. The donation link will go live simultaneously.

The President of PCC has announced that they will be raising awareness through press conferences and social media. The campaign will primarily be conducted online until December 28, which is the foundation day. After this date, ground campaigns will be launched, and volunteers will be visiting door-to-door. The aim is to target at least ten houses in every booth for contributions of at least Rs 138 from each house.

He said that state-level office bearers, elected representatives, DCC Presidents, PCC Presidents, and AICC office bearers will be encouraged to contribute at least Rs 1,380 each.

Mr. Venugopal announced a historic rally in Nagpur on December 28 to celebrate the party’s 138th Foundation Day, with at least one million attendees.

When asked about the security breach in the parliament, the Congress general secretary denied that his party was politicizing the incident. He mentioned that the Delhi Police, which falls under the union Home Ministry, had referred to it as a “terror attack” in court.

He pointed out that the opposition was only seeking discussion. He said that while the MP who facilitated the entry of the accused in the parliament was not even questioned, those seeking answers from the government had been suspended.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
